On May 12-14, the AIA hosted its national convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. Commercial Metals participated with a booth that represented CMC divisions from throughout the company. Jimmie Ballard, National Tilt-Up Product Manager - CMC Construction Services educated architects & engineers about the benefits of CMC’s tilt-up programs, BIM capabilities andShepler's Performance Products.
CMC’s structural division also promoted its Continuing Education Certification for Structural Engineers and Architects with classes in 16 cities nationwide. The half-day seminars will offer information on the challenges and opportunities in this recovering economy. Other topics include:
- Current industry economic conditions and emerging opportunities
- New building delivery systems using collaboration, sustainability and innovative structural systems
- Latest changes to the steel codes and specifications
- Demonstration of the new SMARTBEAM® design software with case studies
- Bentley Systems, Inc will showcase an integrated steel building design process that includes structural framing, connections, CAD drawings, and BIM
